Through our culinary training program and social enterprise, Sanctuary Kitchen provides professional development and employment at an above-market wage for immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers in Greater New Haven.
About us
At Sanctuary Kitchen, we believe that sharing a meal and personal stories is a strong and meaningful gesture of welcome and acceptance, an intimate space in which simple and genuine cultural exchanges can occur. We believe in community and we hope that our programs will cultivate authentic connections between local residents and new arrivals. Food brings people to the table, enriches lives, and fosters mutual understanding across diverse cultures in the most delicious way possible.

Our Chefs
Sanctuary Kitchen chefs create, develop, package, and sell unique, globally-inspired dishes celebrating their heritage. Choose from Afghan, Sudanese, Mauritian, Nepali, Iraqi and Syrian cuisines!
Sanctuary Kitchen is the only place in New Haven where this diverse array of cuisines is available.

Catering
Since its founding in 2017, Sanctuary Kitchen has provided high-volume catering to a variety of clients, including family celebrations, corporate offices, and universities.
Consider Sanctuary Kitchen for all your catering needs, including: brunch, luncheons, dinners, parties, showers, corporate meetings, seminars and conferences, and other special events.

Culinary Training Program
Our 6-month training program begins with interactive classes in Culinary ESL and Culinary arts, followed by job readiness training.
Participants are paid and fully integrated as part of a collaborative team preparing food for sale with the support and guidance of a culinary director and the larger Sanctuary Kitchen team.
