The Downtown Farmers Market is back!
The Downtown Farmers Market returned Wednesday, July 14th! The Downtown Farmers Market is located on the New Haven Green across from City Hall (165 Church St.), and will run Wednesdays from 11am to 2pm, through October.
We are so excited to be able to run our Downtown Farmers Market after taking a gap year in 2020 in response to COVID-19. The Downtown Farmers Market is a mid-day market and a hub for residents and commuters, accessible by numerous city buses. Downtown office workers and visitors flock to this market to enjoy the various lunch options and pick up locally grown and produced items, from berries to teas.
As with all of CitySeed’s markets, vendors accept credit, debit, cash, Senior and WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program Coupons and SNAP/EBT. CitySeed doubles SNAP/EBT for fresh produce and with its continued partnership with the CT Fresh Match program through End Hunger CT!, CitySeed offers unlimited doubling of SNAP/EBT for fruits and vegetables. Stop by the CitySeed tent at any market for more information!
Opening day was a total success! The market was stocked with gorgeous produce from NWO/Beckett Farms, South Haven Farm, and Sunset Farm, as well as unique and delicious prepared food like artisanal granola from Wildwood Granola, soap from No Trace Soap and Salve, and prepare meals and meal kits by Feast Meets East!
Downtown market opening day also featured live music by Quinn, a singer/songwriter who played a delightful medley of acoustic pop, rock, and indie covers and original music!
“We have genuinely missed being on the New Haven Green with our Downtown Farmers Market and are looking forward to returning! We thank the Proprietors of the Green for supporting our return.” – Erin Carey, CitySeed Director of Markets
