Join Sanctuary Kitchen for a Sudanese cooking class with Salma, a recent immigrant, and Badria, a resettled refugee. Enjoy a unique hands-on cooking experience making Ka’ak – sugar coated butter cookies with various fillings – and chay mubakhar – traditional tea smoked with aromatics. You will get a chance to interact with the cooks, gain insight into the experiences of Sudanese immigrants and refugees as they adjust as new residents of New Haven. All participants will receive copies of the recipes used. Class size is limited to 15 people.
