Learn to Make Fatayer – Iraqi Savory Stuffed Pastries

A unique, hands-on cooking experience that gives participants the opportunity to learn authentic recipes from our Iraqi refugee cook, Zainab! Participants will learn how to prepare traditional fatayer, like fatayer sabanekh (spinach), fatayer jebneh (cheese), and sfeehas (meat pies). You will get a chance to interact with the cooks, gain insight into the experiences of Iraqi refugees and their way of life as new residents of New Haven. All participants will receive copies of the recipes used. Class size is limited to 12 people.

Place: Kitchen at CitySeed is located in the CitySeed office, 817 Grand Avenue, two blocks from State Street and downtown New Haven. Free parking available along Grand Avenue and on surrounding streets.
