Learn to Cook (and Eat!) Syrian Cuisine!
April 23, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm UTC+0| $35.00
Join Sanctuary Kitchen’s Syrian Cuisine Cooking Demonstration and Dinner!
A unique cooking experience that gives participants the opportunity to learn authentic recipes from our Syrian refugee cooks — Fatema, Ghadeer and Afeefa — and hear their stories. Participants will observe the preparation of a traditional meal of Shorbet ‘Adas (lentil soup – V), Laban bikhyar (cucumber yogurt salad – V), Ruz Ma Shayreeyeh (vermicelli rice – V), Kafta kabob (ground beef skewers) and Qatayef (ricotta filled dessert pancakes). You will get a chance to interact with the cooks, gain insight into the experiences of Syrian refugees and their way of life as new residents of New Haven, and enjoy the delicious Syrian meal together after the demonstration. All participants will receive copies of the recipes prepared.
