Join Sanctuary Kitchen’s Syrian Cuisine Cooking Demonstration and Dinner!

A unique hands-on cooking experience that gives participants the opportunity to learn authentic recipes from our Syrian refugee cooks – Fatema, Ghadeer and Afeefa! Participants (omnivores and vegetarians alike!) will learn how to prepare traditional Mahshi, Syrian stuffed vegetables, like koosa mahshi (stuffed squash), mahshi batinjaan  (stuffed eggplant), yarinji (vegetarian stuffed grape leaves) and warak enab (meat stuffed grape leaves). You will get a chance to interact with the cooks, gain insight into the experiences of Syrian refugees and their way of life as new residents of New Haven.  After the lesson, sit down to enjoy the meal that you helped prepare!  All participants will receive copies of the recipes used. Class size is limited to 12 people.
